After my blogs on performance parts, innovative accessories and Bullet mechanics I felt there was need for some good tutorials for Enfield UCE engine. How much ever I went through the net, I could not find any good channels that covered the basics tutorials for maintaining your Bullet. With that there came the need for the products that could help maintain your Bullet. So I have started this blog as a means for covering both these aspects. Tutorials for maintaining Bullet and Product reviews for tools that help in maintenance.

Bullet Standard 500 UCE Air filter change

Anatomically speaking air filters act like lungs in your body. If we are going by analogies carburettor would become the heart. Engine the stomach headlamp the eye and so on. But let us not get carried away. Staying on the topic it is as necessary to have a clean air filter in your Bullet as it is to have a pair of healthy lungs in your body. While dirty air filter can stop the flow of air to the engine causing performance problems, a damaged air filter can let in unfiltered air which adversely affects engine life. Even though it is such an important part, the stock air filters provided with our Bullets are quite fragile and needs to be replaced at regular intervals. You can make life easier by shifting to performance air filters like BMC. However in case you prefer to have stock air filters, ensure that they are cleaned regularly and replaced every time you service your Bullet.

Tribocor Dry Type Chain Lube (TC 212) review

Tribocor Dry type chain lube TC 212 review
Tribocor Dry type chain lube TC 212
I have for a long time looked for a chain lubricant that was not a messy affair. In my search for that perfect chain lube I tried Motul, Rolon, Eurogold and Diamond. All of them seemed to follow the same formula. A pressurised spray can that would deposit a film of lubricant. In all of them the lubricant would dry off to become a sticky substance that would be dirt magnet. As I travelled this sticky dirt would then fling off the chain and coat the steel rims of my Bullet. I was also not sure how effective a lubricant would be with all the dirt particles that it attracts. I started looking for non sticky chain lubricant or clean chain lubricants. After all my research I zeroed in on 'Dupont dry wax chain lube' and 'Bel ray chain lube'. All my bike buddies in US and UK recommended it and gave positive reviews. However there was no way to import it from there. Even if I could import it the price was so prohibitive that I could purchase a Bullet chain in the same amount. When I had almost given up I chanced upon this product from TriboCor.

Jopasu mini duster review

Jopasu mini duster review
Jopasu mini duster
Living in the dry and dusty climate of Delhi NCR we are quite used to seeing a film of dust on everything that has been outside for more a a couple of hours. For that matter unless your garage is air conditioned our vehicles are not spared by dust even indoors. For me wiping dust was a ritual I did every morning and still do it today.
However before I came across Jopasu duster I used to try and wipe the dust off with cloth. It was a painfully slow process because as soon as I rubbed dust off one place it would settle on the other side. Many times when the dust cover was thick I felt like I was just shifting the dirt rather than cleaning it off. With time I could see that all that shifting and rubbing of dust particle was causing swirl marks on my Bullet. I was so fed up that I even though of purchasing a battery driven mini vacuum cleaners. Luckily before I could make that purchase I came across this product.

Bullet Standard 500 carburetor (UCD33) Adjustment setting / tuning

Carburetor adjustment is an essential part of your Bull's maintenance.  Most mechanics nowadays will set your carb to extra rich setting as they have no idea how to get the optimum setting right. A carburetor that is set to rich setting will darken your spark plugs and may even foul them up prematurely. Also since the motorcycle is getting more fuel than air it causes unburnt fuel particles to come through exhaust leading to pollution and also low mileage. On the other side if a carb is wrongly set to lean it will result in low power. Also your engine will heat up more causing engine damage in the long run. Thus the importance of carburetor adjustment cannot be overstated.

How to check if you need Bullet Standard 500 carburetor (UCD33) Adjustment setting / tuning

The best way to check if your carb is running lean or rich is by looking at the condition of your spark plugs. In case your spark plugs have gone black then your carb is running rich. In case they are getting whitish then your carb is running lean and in case your spark plug is brownish yellow color then the carb is set to optimum setting. Some of the other symptoms of rich or lean carb settings is given in the last section of this tutorial
